Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer
Jeffrey Friedman

Jeffrey I. Friedman, Chairman, President and CEO, has been involved in the real estate business since 1969. He joined the organization in 1974. Mr. Friedman has served as Chairman and CEO of the Company since 1993. He is involved in both national and local civic and charitable organizations, including the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. He is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and is also active in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, World Presidents' Organization, Urban Land Institute, and the National Multi-Housing Council.


 
John T. Shannon
Senior Vice President, Operations
John Shannon

John T. Shannon, Senior Vice President of Operations, joined AEC in April 2004. Previously, he was employed by The Shelter Group, Baltimore, MD. He has 15 years of property management experience. He has a BA in Business Administration with concentration in real estate finance and construction management from the University of Denver.


 
Lou Fatica
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer
Lou Fatica

Lou Fatica, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer, joined the Company in 1999 as Controller. Mr. Fatica has over ten years of experience and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of CPA's. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hillcrest Family YMCA.


 
Martin A. Fishman
Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary
Martin Fishman

Martin A. Fishman, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, joined the Company in 1986 as Vice President, General Counsel. He is a member of the American, Ohio, and Cleveland Bar Associations. He has lectured on real estate issues before bar associations on a number of occasions.


 
Patrick Duffy
Vice President of Strategic Marketing
Patrick Duffy

Patrick Duffy, Vice President of Strategic Marketing, joined the Company in 2005. He plays a key role in the Company's diversification plan by assisting in identifying markets for asset acquisitions and dispositions. In addition, he is responsible for developing property-specific marketing plans and strategies to assist in maximizing top line revenue growth for the Company's market-rate properties, while also assisting with pricing and positioning strategies. Mr. Duffy was previously employed by The Shelter Group, Baltimore, MD, where he served as Senior Vice President of Marketing since 1995. He graduated from Loyola College and holds a Master's Degree in Administrative Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.


 
Kara Florack
Vice President of Human Resources
Kara Florack

Kara Florack, Vice President of Human Resources, joined AEC in 2004 as the Director of Compensation. She became the Director of Human Resources in 2005 and was appointed to Vice President of Human Resources in January 2007. She is responsible for oversight of all Human Resources functions, including compensation, benefits, human resources information systems, recruiting and payroll. Ms. Florack is a member of World at Work, which is an association dedicated to knowledge and leadership in compensation, benefits and total rewards. She is a graduate of Boston University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.


 
Kimberly Kanary
Vice President of Corporate Communications
Kimberly Kanary

Kimberly Kanary, Vice President of Corporate Communications, joined AEC in 2005. She served as the Manager of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations prior to joining National City as Assistant Vice President, Retail Communications. Previously, she was employed as the Public Relations & Corporate Communications Supervisor for the J.M. Smucker Company. Ms. Kanary brings a multitude of communications-related experience, including public and media relations, crisis communications, internal communications, community and investor relations and marketing communications. She serves on the Board of Directors for Valley Riding, Inc., and the Communications Committee for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ms. Kanary is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College and holds a Master's in Communications from Bowling Green State University.


 
Miria C. Rabideau
Regional Vice President
Miria Rabideau

Miria C. Rabideau, Regional Vice President, joined AEC in 1994 as a Property Manager and was promoted to Regional Manager in 2003. She is based in Michigan and will oversee a regional portfolio that includes Michigan and Northwest Ohio. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and was honored by the Property Management Association of Michigan in 2004 and 2005 as the "Regional Manager of the Year."


 
Beth L. Stoll
Vice President of Operations
Beth Stoll

Beth L. Stoll, Vice President of Operations, joined the Company in 2004. She is responsible for the Company's Mid-Atlantic and Southeast portfolios, as well as select Midwest properties. In addition to the oversight of these regions, she is also responsible for the activities of the AEC Academy for Career Development. Prior to joining Associated Estates, she was a Regional Vice President with The Shelter Group, Baltimore, MD. Preceding her time with Shelter, Ms. Stoll worked for AMLI Residential, Focus Group, Julian LeCraw & Co., and Trammell Crow in a multi-site supervisory capacity. Ms. Stoll attended Boston State College where she received her B.S. degree.
